THE ITALIAN RAID TT/MOTORALLY – The Italian Raid TT and Motorally Championships came to a close in Campobasso with the Rally del Molise.
Over the course of three days, riders faced more than 500 km of dirt tracks and over 200 km of timed special stages. Breathtaking high-altitude landscapes, rocky terrain, and fast gravel trails put both riders and bikes to the test. Nevertheless, the Ducati Entrophyrally Team put in a strong performance, with lead riders Antoine Meo and Gerry Gerini competing in the G1000 class, Antonio Polidoro in the GPX class, and Marco Peverini also in G1000. All four DesertX Rally bikes showcased excellent handling and durability on the tight, rocky mule tracks, along with impressive speed on open fields and gravel roads, consistently battling within the top five both overall and in their respective classes. Victory was within reach for Antoine Meo on the second day, when he won the first 40 km special stage, finishing over a minute ahead of Meoni, Drusiani, Botturi, and Cerruti. Unfortunately, a navigation error in the second stage cost him his lead, and he ultimately finished third, just 20 seconds off the win. Gerry Gerini was fast and consistent, holding 5th and 6th positions during the first two days. On the third day, after recovering a two-minute gap and catching up with Meoni, he hit a rock embedded in the ground while cornering through a fast dip. The impact damaged the footpeg bracket and engine cover, causing an oil leak and forcing him to retire from the race.
