BOTTURI – DAKAR STAGE 2

BOTTURI – DAKAR STAGE 2
18/01/2016

The start from the bivouac of Villa Carlos Paz at dawn saw the concentrated riders starting for the long stage today. Short transfer (93km) before arriving at the special. Pilots can’t leave immediately, in fact  the start of the stage was slightly delayed. After a short wait, they start; the first part of the special led competitors to 1000 meters above sea level, very technical with hard bottom. After the first CP ground has changed, slide and sandy. The stage was shortened due to heavy rains yesterday. The Australian Price and Portuguese rider Faria took turns at the top of the table throughout the day and at the end of stage Price won for just twenty seconds. Alessandro Botturi held a regular rhythm traveling between the eighth and twelfth place, trying not to risk it. The arrival in the spa town of Termas de Rio Hondo, 265 m above sea level, crossed by the Rio Dulce and on the banks of the basin of the Rio Hondo, in the province of Santiago del Estero, has given way to end the day. ALESSANDRO BOTTURI: “We woke up with a great weather. I started well and I was able to gain positions. Then I fell badly towards the end of the special, on a stretch in asphalt at a controlled speed (90km/hour). My fault, I was looking at subsequent notes, there was an indication of a short distance, braking with the front fell to the ground hurt almost without realizing it. I hit my arm and wrist was wrong, it hurts even if I drove for another 40 km of the special and more than 300 for  transfer, up to the bivouac. I did an ultrasound and fortunately nothing serious”.
